Blogtoberfest Day #2: Cherie's top tips

Today's Blogtoberfest prompt comes from Cherie, who blogs at Waste Do Not Want.

This year will be Cherie's third Blogtoberfest, and this is what she had to say about how she is going to approach the challenge:

This year I've decided to compose my posts using a theme, maybe even two, that way it makes it interesting for me as well as allowing me to schedule posts in advance.

No hints you'll have to wait see! ;)

So start your engines, get those blogging motors running, don't be pressured or stressed about a post a day, sometimes the simplest most sweetest things in life make for an excellent blog post.

Wonderful advice, Cherie!

I think the idea of setting a theme for the month -- or even just a week -- to guide the posts that you write is a fantastic blogging tip for any time of year.

Friends, feel free to share below some of your top tips for blogging every day. If you set yourself a theme for the month, what would it be?

  1. Oh if only I could be that organised! It is 11.15pm here and I have just hastily blooged before going to bed. My plan to blog about learning to upload to my website has failed as my son has not had time to teach me yet! Anyway, thank you for the inspiration. One day, maybe I'll be able to take on that tip about a theme for a month. Mmmm....now then.....maybe I'd blog about putting something on ebay every day and clearing the clutter from my life! THEN I'd spend all the money on a trip to Disneyland!

  2. My theme for the month is simple (once I get home) ...... look back over the past glorious five weeks that we have spent in Australia and Singapore!!

  5. Love the idea of a theme for the month. Earlier this year I started taking part in a blogging / Twitter project called 52 Weeks of Grateful but I didn't blog as much as I'd planned and lost the focus of it, which is a shame particularly as my desire to cultiviate an "attitude of gratitude" was a major motivator for starting my blog back in January. So, as part of my Blogtoberfest efforts I'm going to get back into the project and rekindle the grateful theme. Thanks for the tip Cherie and happy day 2 to everyone ;)

  6. My blog is mostly art-related so I'm hoping to do a sketch every day as it will also fit in with another art challenge I've taken on too. Just sharing my day will be my other focus. :)

  8. I think my tip would be to just blog. Sometimes I think too much about it and then I never actually hit publish and it sits in drafts and no one gets to enjoy it.

  9. I'm on the same path as Kylie. This is a great exercise in blogging regularly and If I receive a response 'fantastic', however just happy to diarise my October and be introduced to new bloggers :)

  10. What Kylie says is very true. I had an enforced blogging break because I was without my laptop for a while. Sometimes it's really hard to 'get back on the horse' afterwards. Blogtoberfest came at the perfect time for me. I don't have a theme for the month, but I do find it useful to have a schedule for the week which I'll probably repeat, with a few variations, through October.

  11. I try and set myself achievable goals - something like blogtoberfest works well, or last year with some friends we did "photober" - a photo every day for a month. I think that I would find themes a bit constricting but they can also be a good starting point. :-)

  12. I participated in Blogtoberfest a few years ago and it was fun. My blog has been very neglected lately for so many reasons so I think I will jump onboard the Blogtoberfest train. I am participating in a photo a day challenge Mid October so i will make that part of my blogging schedule, oh and I have a birthday this month too so I wonder what that will bring. It is school holidays, We have two new doggies and a back yard reno happening. Sounds like I am all set for some serious blogging topics.

  13. A theme is a great idea.
I'm going to be a bit less structured, but try and do certain things on certain days -wordless wednesday, my creative space thursday.

  14. Between Cherie's tips and your intention setting, I can see that my challenge of no internet at home can be overcome with some thought and planning =-)

  15. My blog is about sewing mostly too but also baking and life in general but since I am hoping to open my online shop this week (yikes it's already almost Wednesday for me) then there might be a few posts about that (and the trials and tribulations of the unuser-friendly software!) but mainly I want to take this opportunity to focus on creativity and try to forget about everything else. Do what you love, right?

  16. I think I will do this. I won't be able to blog on the weekends as we are at the lake where there is no electricty nor internet, but that's okay, eh? :) And Kat - it is nice to meet you on-line. I also tell stories and my blog is called NitaDances (www.nitadances.com) so we already have something in common. I'm glad I found your blog!

  17. Hmm... I tend to blog a lot about my two little ones. Even when I try to blog about stuff, it always somehow comes back to them. Their grandparents read my blog so I think that's part of it. And then of course a lot of my day is taken up with things I do for them, etc. So I guess that's the general theme of my blog and has been ever since I started it when pregnant with DD now 5-1/2.

  18. My focus for the month is a triad: blogging, businness and fashion. :)

  19. My theme for the month is "31 Days of Holiday Gift Ideas"
My website and blog are exclusively Crochet..so mine will be to provide a terrific gift idea every day that can be finished before the Holidays.
