When a healthier habit is not the goal...
Numbing out. Sugar. Avoiding the feelings. Succumbing to the most well-trodden path. Seeking comfort.
Looking outward. Fear of Missing Out. The thrill of the acquisition. Seeking momentary satisfaction in external (usually material) things.
I didn't manage to address either of these habits this past year. Even though I know what they are about and can attest to the power of the alternatives.
I've done the work. I know where I can get further, highly specialised, help.
What I haven't really done... is... practice. Knowing that "forming a healthier habit" is not the ultimate goal.
In fact, there is no goal. It's just about showing up and choosing to practice, over and over again.
Well, it's gotta be worth a try.
